We are so fortunate to have a magnificent opera in Seattle.  Just opening this past week with rave reviews was Rigoletto, a tale of tragedy in love and sacrifice.  Especially well know is Rigoletto’s inescapable aria “La donna è mobile,” which has been performed by everyone from cartoon character Bugs Bunny to famed opera singer Luciano Pavarotti.

The tragedy of Verdi’s opera is set in motion when a servant, the hunchback jester Rigoletto, offends a member of the power structure, Count Ceprano, who retaliates by kidnapping Rigoletto’s beloved daughter, Gilda.  Yet, this takes place after The Duke of Mantua (a playboy) seduces and abandons the pretty virgin, who happens to be Rigoletto's daughter.

The Seattle Symphony opened their 2013-14 season with a wonderful gala concert.  Lang Lang was STUNNING in the Prokofiev 3rd Piano Concerto.

All I Want For Christmas....

Wait, Santa!  Is it too late to give you my wish list???

Actually, I know Santa won't be visiting tonight for I have been topping his naughty list for years, but perhaps I have others who would like to be 'my Santa'.
